Benefits to Resident

The residents will gain in-depth knowledge of the latest levels of the IBM SVC and FlashSystem portfolio, and document performance recommendations and techniques. Residents will have access to architects and developers and gain insight to future product enhancements.

Access to the latest and greatest hardware is not guaranteed, and in most cases not needed, at this time, so applicants must be pragmatic enough to understand that some concepts may have to be written from a theoretical standpoint - but this will be balanced by ensuring that they are fully engaged with performance architects and development.

IBM Redbooks want technical practitioners to be recognized for their newly gained knowledge, experience, and accomplishments. Therefore, upon successful delivery of the publication produced by this IBM Redbooks residency, you will become eligible to earn an IBM Redbooks Digital Badge issued through Pearson VUE Acclaim.

Objectives

Resident Prerequisites

This residency is suitable for Business Partners and IBMers (not for clients).

A basic requirement for all residents is the ability to read and clearly express concepts and procedures in common English.

GIVEN CURRENT REALITY IT IS ANTICIPATED THIS WILL BE 100% REMOTE WORKING.

ONLY APPLY IF YOU HAVE FULL MANAGEMENT APPROVAL AND ARE AVAILABLE FOR THE SCHEDULED START DATE.

YOU MUST BE FLEXIBLE IN YOUR START AND END DATES AS THESE MAY CHANGE.

THE ITSO WILL PAY ALL TRAVEL AND LIVING EXPENSES (IF TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS ARE LIFTED).

Applicants are expected to be fully familiar with SVC/FlshSystem/IBM Spectrum Virtualize from an implementation and architectural standpoint as well as best practices.

Residents must be flexible and prepared to adopt a pragmatic approach in what may be a dynamically changing environment. As new announcements are made, these will need to be incorporated. This means that residents must be prepared to show creativity to make sure that the relevant information is included in the redbook. Not all one resident has to have all the skills we ask for. The team that is selected will take care of this.

For especially well qualified applicants I am happy to consider a shorter duration on-site residency followed by a part time/remote residency to fit in with your "real" jobs as the business demands it. This can be as an author, technical reviewer, adviser, performance specialist, etc. So, if you think that you would like to work on it, even if it is to sign up for one chapter, then let me know.

Applicants are STRONGLY encouraged to include any relevant and additional information that applies to this residency in the free-form part of the nomination form as that often means the difference in being considered for selection or not.

Please do not send me your resume/CV, and expect me to read it and match your skills to the residency.
