Benefits to Resident
As a resident in this project, you will get a jump start on key 2013 IBM Power Systems and IBM i technology-related announcements and product enhancements. Seize this opportunity to be among the first elite IBM i professionals worldwide to gain hands-on and practical experience with the new enhancements of IBM i. Working alongside and exchanging knowledge with some of the top IBM i experts, you will develop a competitive edge that will serve you well in successful service delivery to IBM i.
Description
With the introduction of the V7000, VIOS, NPIV, and Live Partition Mobility, our IBM i mid market customers now have access to advanced storage technology previously available only to large enterprise clients. The growth in deployment of the Storwize V7000 in the IBM i mid market is growing rapidly world wide. In this IBM® Redbooks® publication we want to document the set up and deployment of VIOS, the V7000, Live Partition Mobility (LPM), and a PowerHA three node cluster with switchable luns and global mirroring. The objective of residency is to create a guide to our customers and business partners on deploying the virtualization environment to take advantage of IBM storage servers as well as guidelines on performance optimization for the VIOS and V7000 environment. There is a certain amount of overlap between the low end of the DS8K and the V7000 line so we'd like to also give some guidance in this area. We will also document on how to use the tools for various types of outage events planned and unplanned.
Objectives
The objective of this residency is to write a Redbook that explains step by step the set up and deployment of VIOS, the V7000, LPM, and a PowerHA three node cluster with switchable luns and global mirroring. This Redbook witll serve as a guide to our clients and business partners on deploying the virtualization environment to take advantage of IBM storage servers as well as guidelines on performance optimization for the VIOS and V7000 environment. It will describe the process of moving from internal disk to the VIOS V7000 environment with PowerHA and LPM. It will also document the the use of tools for various types of outage events planned
and unplanned. It will also illustrate an IBM i partition hosting another IBM i.
