Abstract

This IBM® Redpaper™ publication describes a software-defined infrastructure (SDI) Solution with PowerVC. In PowerVC SDI you combine mainly inexpensive hardware with a
software that is able to create the whole stack needed to provide virtual machines for new upcoming applications like opensource databases or analytics applications such as Hadoop.

It uses base Power technologies like PowerVM® NovaLink and the opensource hypervisor KVM. It combines it with sophisticated storage technologies, such as IBM Spectrum™ Scale
and with the very powerful networking capabilities provided by the Open vSwitch technology.

This IBM Redpaper publication describes the concept in detail and also how to implement such a solution.

Table of contents
