This IBM redpaper discusses the cache partitioning feature added to the IBM SAN Volume Controller (SVC) version 4.2.1. In this redpaper we briefly describe the functions of a read and write cache, including an explanation of the terminology used. This paper also discusses the benefits of partitioning cache resources, and concludes with an explanation of how this has been implemented in SVC 4.2.1
