If you have multiple Windows servers that run on multiple Integrated
Netfinity Servers, only one server at a time can use the AS/400 tape
drive. To transfer control of the tape from one server to another, you
must unlock it on one server and lock it on the other.
| Note: | If you have logical partitions on your AS/400, the tape drive is allocated to
a single partition and cannot be shared by Windows servers that are in other
partitions.
|
To transfer control of the AS/400 tape drive between Windows servers,
follow these steps:
- Unlock the tape drive from the Windows server that has it locked:
- From the Start menu on the first Windows server, choose
Programs, then AS400 Windows Server, then AS400
Devices.
- In the AS/400 Available Devices list, click on
TAP01, where TAP01 is the hardware resource name of the AS/400 tape drive.
- Click Unlock to free the tape drive for use by a second Windows
server.
- Click Done.
- On the Windows server that you want to give control, lock the tape
drive:
- From the Start menu on the second Windows server, choose
Programs, then AS400 Windows Server, then AS400
Devices.
- In the AS400 Available Devices list, click on
TAP01, where TAP01 is the resource name of the
AS/400 tape drive.
- Click Lock to make the tape drive accessible by this Windows
server.
- Click Done. This server can now use the AS/400 tape
drive.
| Note: | If you shut down your Windows server or the Windows server fails before you
unlock the tape drive, it unlocks automatically. However, it is still
in a varied off state on AS/400.
