Supported AS/400 tape drives

Your ability to use AS/400 tape drives from Windows server depends on tape device model, tape controller, and media type. Use these guidelines to determine if you can use a particular tape device:

Extensive testing has been done on these devices:

• 3570 -- 8mm Tape Cassette Subsystem
• 3590 -- 1/2" Cartridge High Performance Tape Subsystem
• 6385 -- 13G 1/4" Cartridge Tape Unit

Other supported tape devices are:

• 1/4" cartridge tape device that has a device type of 63A0 and 6385
• 3494 L1, D12
• 3570 B00, B01, B11, B1A
• 3570e C00, C01, C11, C1A
• 3590 B11, B1A
• 3590e B21, B2A
• 6381
• 6382
• 6385
• 6386
• 6390
• All 7208s
• 9427, 210, 211, 310, 311

Tape libraries are not supported as libraries, but they may be supported as single devices.

Manual is the only supported mode on Auto Cartridge Facilities (ACF) and Auto Cartridge Loaders.
