In this document, we discuss how to verify that your IBM DB2 Content Manager for z/OS installation is successful and how to troubleshoot a common installation problem.
The easiest way to verify that Content Manager for z/OS installed successfully is using Content Manager Client for Windows to verify as follows:
- Install Content Manager Client for Windows.
- Log on.
- Import some documents in the NOINDEX item type.
- After a successful import, search for the documents that you imported.
- Retrieve the documents.
If you are able to retrieve and view the documents, the installation process for Content Manager was successful.
If the installation was not successful, after you import a document, you might not be able to retrieve the document. You might see the following message in the HTTP procedure:
Authenticate.. no authorization data found, authenticate failed
Authentic User... -nobody-
Denied...... Authentic User required.
AA.......... check returned 401
HTLOADERRSRV. num=401 HTReason=3 log401error=1

** IMW0216E Not authorized. Authentication failed.:
This is because the client can talk to both Resource Manager in z/OS or in Multiplatform, and the communication is different for each one. To solve this problem, specify in the c:\winnt\ICMCLIENT.ini file the following values:
Setting DisableURLCode=yes prevents the client from using the wrong method.
