Abstract

This IBM Redbook will help you install and customize Siebel eBusiness Applications 2000 using DB2 UDB V6 on AIX and NT platforms. It is based on the installation experiences gained while installing Siebel Applications 2000 at the IBM ITSO Center in Poughkeepsie, and on customer support experiences from the IBM Toronto Laboratory, IBM DB2 UDB Data Management Consulting Services, Siebel Engineering, and Siebel Technical Services.
The redbook provides the following:
- An overview of Siebel Systems, including architecture, major components, and various types of clients
- Sizing information based on existing customer system environments
- A set of DB2 parameter values for high performance
- An extensive description of Siebel database characteristics on DB2 UDB
- Information on Siebel’s Enterprise Integration Manager (EIM) - the Siebel importing/exporting tool
- Data migration considerations from DB2 on one platform to DB2 on another platform
- An examination of AIX and DB2 tools to help you administer Siebel system environments
- Backup/recovery scenarios
This redbook will be especially useful for those who are installing Siebel eBusiness Applications 2000 using DB2 UDB on NT or AIX platforms. It can also help systems programmers and DB2 DBAs to install Siebel eBusiness Applications 2000 for the first time, and to manage it effectively. A knowledge of DB2 UDB on NT or AIX platforms and NT/AIX system administration is assumed.
