IBM WorkSpace On-Demand 3.0.1

An IBM Redbooks publication

Abstract

IBM WorkSpace On-Demand 3.0.1, a new program offering, addresses key requirements created by the rapid adoption of network computing and e-business.

IBM WorkSpace On-Demand 3.0.1, a cross-platform middleware solution, brings the value of server-based client management to a broad range of client hardware, including both Personal Computers (PCs), Network Computers (NCs), and, potentially, other specialized thin-client hardware, such as point-of-sale devices.

IBM WorkSpace On-Demand 3.0.1 is intended to deliver centralized, server-based management for a broad range of client platforms (including Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0, IBM OS/2, and Windows 2000 clients). It also allows for rapid deployment of clients and installation of supported client operating systems without user intervention. It provides support for user roaming, which allows user access to tailored desktops from anywhere in the network. Accelerated deployment of browser- and Java-based e-business clients is also featured.
