Abstract

This IBM Redbook helps you to install, tailor, and configure the Open Systems Adapter-Express (OSA-Express) features that are available on IBM System z9 and IBM eServer zSeries servers (System z9 109 and zSeries 990, 890, 900, and 800). It focuses on the hardware installation and the software definitions that you need to provide connectivity to various LAN environments. It provides information to help you with planning and system setup. It also includes helpful utilities and commands for monitoring and managing the OSA-Express features.

The target audience for this redbook is system engineers, network administrators, and system programmers who will plan for and install OSA-Express. Prior to reading this redbook, you must have a solid background in System z9 and zSeries hardware, HCD or IOCP, OSA/SF, SNA/APPN, and TCP/IP.
