Abstract

This redbook provides technical background information relating to batch processing in a Parallel Sysplex. It describes two of the major data management environments - DB2 and VSAM - and talks about performance, management, and recovery. It also provides recommendations based on the experiences of customers that have already implemented Parallel Sysplex. This book will help you implement data sharing for your batch workload with minimal problems.

It is written for MVS System Programmers and Operations Analysts. It may also be of interest to Production Controllers and Application Programmers.

This redbook is based on products announced or available at the time of writing. However, most of the contents apply to all releases of MVS/ESA or OS/390 that support a Parallel Sysplex. If there is a dependency on a particular release of a product, that is clearly indicated.
