Modeling Host Environments using SNAP/SHOT

Redbooks logo

An IBM Redbooks publication

Abstract

This redbook describes how to model complex host
environments such as parallel sysplex, MVS compatibility
and goal mode, PR/SM, dynamic transaction routing, DB2
with and without data sharing, IMS, and batch window
using the capabilities of the SNAP/SHOT simulation tool.
It depicts the ways the main SCPs and DB/DC products
exploit the host characteristics and how they can be
modelled with SNAP/SHOT.

This book will be helpful to you if you are a technical specialist using SNAP/SHOT for
large systems capacity studies or migration analyses.
A knowledge of host capacity planning in an MVS
environment and an understanding of basic SNAP/SHOT
fundamentals is assumed.
