LANRES/VSE: Integrating Novell LANs into S/390 VSE System

An IBM Redbooks publication

Abstract

This IBM Redbooks publication describes how to implement the cooperation between
Novell LAN users and VSE/ESA systems using LANRES/VSE.
This concept extends the LAN user's ability to exploit resources
and services on the VSE/ESA host system through functions such as
disk serving, data
distribution, LAN administration and printing services.
LANRES/VSE is a
member of the LANRES family of products and complements the equivalent
functions offered by MVS, VM and OS/400 operating systems.

This publication is intended for system engineers or programmers
responsible for the integration of LAN-connected workstations using
a VSE/ESA host system as central disk and administration server.

The reader is assumed to have a working knowledge of VSE/ESA,
Novell Netware and the corresponding workstation operating systems.
In addition, he should have a basic understanding of IBM's major
communication protocol, SNA/VTAM.
