The Native TCP/IP Solution for VSE
 |
|
|
Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), available
on all major operating systems is THE protocol suite to communicate
across any set of interconnected networks. TCP/IP opens up VSE systems
to the whole world of TCP/IP networks including the Internet.
This redbook describes how VSE/ESA users can enable their
VSE/ESA system to participate in the whole world of TCP/IP networks
using the native TCP/IP for VSE solution from Connectivity Systems Inc.
We show how to make use of all the TCP/IP applications that are
supported by TCP/IP for VSE from Connectivity Systems Inc. This includes
functions like Telnet/TN3270, LPD/LPR or FTP with which a VSE user can
easily establish a terminal session, print documents or transfer files
from and to any other TCP/IP system. We also provide guidance to help
you to set up your VSE/ESA system as an HTTP server in the Internet.
This redbook describes in a detailed and comprehensive way all the steps
that are required to install and customize TCP/IP for VSE from
Connectivity Systems Inc. on the VSE/ESA system. Several practical
examples are presented to show how the provided TCP/IP for VSE functions
and facilities can be used in a VSE/ESA and the Internet environment.
This publication is intended for system engineers or programmers
responsible for implementing VSE/ESA host integration into TCP/IP
networks. It assumes a basic knowledge of TCP/IP concepts and protocols
and a working knowledge of VSE/ESA.
