Abstract

This paper is one in a series of service-oriented architecture (SOA) papers that features a case study involving a fictitious company called JKHL Enterprises (JKHLE).

The focus of the case study in this paper is the challenges and solutions that are associated with SOA service creation and reuse. In this paper, we describe how to use the key methods and options to unlock existing IT assets for reuse through SOA interfaces and how to build services for new and existing assets to ensure that they can be used with future SOA efforts. This paper describes how to apply the realization patterns of the Service Creation SOA Scenario to solve the business and IT challenges as they relate to the case study.
