Implementing Windows System Resource Manager

Redbooks logo

An IBM Redpaper publication

Abstract

This Redpaper introduces Microsoft Windows System Resource Manager (WSRM), a component of Windows Server 2003, Datacenter Edition and Enterprise Edition. WSRM is a utility used for managing CPU and memory resource allocation among multiple applications that run on the same operating system image.

This paper describes what the tool does and how it works. It also describes how to prepare to use WSRM and how to implement a basic configuration of WSRM.

The paper will help Windows Server 2003 customers, especially those implementing an IBM Eserver xSeries 445 solution, and those people who want to understand how CPU and memory resource usage can be managed.
