An IBM Redpaper publication

Abstract

This IBM Redpaper describes the configuration and card placement rules that you must understand and follow to develop valid configurations. It reflects iSeries announcements made through September 2003. Use it as a guide when configuring IOAs and IOPs so that the iSeries system is sized to meet customer expectations.

This edition reflects the PCI placement rules relative to the iSeries servers, controllers, and adapters supported with OS/400 V5R2. This Redpaper was originally published as a chapter of the "IBM eServer iSeries and AS/400e System Builder," SG24-2155, where you will find technical descriptions and prerequisites of the features named in this Redpaper.

This Redpaper is periodically updated to reflect configuration or card placement rule changes announced for OS/400 V5R2. The update to this Redpaper in July 2004 is to clarify rules involving placement of the #5700 and #5701 adapters.
