Upgrading from Tivoli NetView 7.1.4/5 to IBM Tivoli Network Manager IP Edition 3.8 Version 1.0

An IBM Redpaper publication

Abstract

With the acquisition of Micromuse® in 2006, Tivoli® began offering a new network management product that will eventually replace Tivoli NetView®. The new product is IBM® Tivoli Network Manager IP Edition (formerly known as Netcool/Precision for IP Networks), which is tightly integrated with Netcool/OMNIbus™ for event management. Together they offer many capabilities not available in NetView and Tivoli Enterprise Console® and also are sufficiently different that you want to reassure yourself that it is the right product at this time. This IBM Redpaper™ discusses the differences for the administrator, operator, and the network management developers, in order to plan a smooth transition from NetView to Network Manager.
