Access to Residencies

You can view announcements of upcoming residencies on the Redbooks Intranet and Internet sites or in the IBM Redbooks Weekly Newsletter e-mails. You can submit an online nomination for a residency on the IBM Redbooks web site.

The ITSO acknowledges the receipt of each nomination, normally within a few minutes, in an e-mail to the nominee and the nominee's manager. The ITSO project leader normally makes the final selection of nominees within two or three business days following the "submit nomination by" date. At that time, the project leader or representative notifies all nominees and their managers by e-mail stating whether they have been selected. Nominees who do not receive timely notification should contact the project leader for clarification.

For especially well-qualified candidates, the ITSO can sometimes be flexible in the dates and length of its residencies. IBM professionals, Business Partners, clients and marketplace professionals wanting to contribute research materials, or to assist unofficially and remotely, are encouraged to contact the residency's leader. In some instances Lotus Notes TeamRooms are available, enabling residents to contribute to, and take advantage of, the project from a remote location.

The selection of residents from the nominees is a competitive process and all nominees must have the support and permission of their managers and companies for this significant mutual investment. Faculty and students of accredited educational institutions are welcome as candidates, with equivalent institutional support.
