Figure 1-1 indicates max 448 disk drives - then Table 2-1 indicates a max of 256 drives. Is there perhaps a difference between the DS5100 and DS5300 or a differnece between fully native DS5000 EXP units versus intermix of DS5000 and older EXP810s?

Fig 1 represents the future capabilitie of te DS5000, I have altered it to represent the current capability of the DS500. Thanks for pointing it out

Figure 1-1 in the PDF doesn't show the image correctly for the DS4000 and DS5000. Is it the file problem or my PDF viewer problem?
Thank you.

Thanks, I can see the problem with figure 1-1. Will submit new draft today

Texts and figures are truncated at tops and bottoms of many pages of the document on the readers I use (or is it only on the Mac readers ?), can you change your page layout a little before sending another draft ? Thanks for your work.

The book hasn't been sent to final editing where page layout is finalized. So it may be the draft. Should have final out soon

You indicate on section 4.4.4 FC/SATA Intermix "the intermixing of Fibre Channel drives and SATA E-DDM drives within the same expansion enclosures are premium features that must be licensed.", but this feature is already available on our fresh system without premium license. Perhaps is it relative to the "Mixed Drive Types Enabled by default" section seen in the featureBundle.txt file.

thanks updating book.
The DS4000/DS5000 FC/SATA Intermix premium feature supports the concurrent attachment of Fibre Channel and SATA storage expansion enclosures to a single DS4000 or DS5000™ controller configuration. With this premium feature, you can create and manage distinct arrays or logical drives that are built from either Fibre Channel disks or SATA disks in a DS4000 or DS5000 Storage Subsystem, and allocate the drives to the appropriate applications in the attached host servers. drives

The paragraph in section 1.2 at the bottom of page 20 and continuing onto page 21, beginning with "The storage servers in the DS5000 Series provide high system availability through the use of..." seems to be missing some text.

Maybe it is just me, the version i downloaded, Draft for January 8, 2009 has a page layout of 8.5x9.0 inches. And this cuts off text at the bottom many pages. I would very much like to see a document with the proper layout of "Letter". Thanks

On page 4 of this draft it reads:

"First Edition (January 2009)
This edition applies to Version 7.3 and above of Data ONTAP.
This document created or updated on January 21, 2009."

What is the relation with Data ONTAP - if any??
