Posted by Martin Venables on 20 May 2008 at 17:21 Where has all the PLM information gone? This should have been a new book for power6. There is no point in removing all the vital information that has now been lost to publish an update for a dfferent machine under the same publication number: sg247940 I now have to resort to copying information from the old varsion into PMRs and customer emails, or emailing them an "old" copy because they can no longer access the information online. |
Posted by Martin Venables on 20 May 2008 at 17:24 Part 2 - 500 word limit. This is a serious problem. Please re-release the p5 book, it was a classic redbook and the new one does not cover what our many p5 customers NEED TO KNOW. |
Posted by Scott Vetter on 22 May 2008 at 15:57 Thanks for the input. I'll try to get the PLM information published as a separate paper. Outside that, information was moved into the Managing and Monitoring book, which has become the applied guide. Have you seen this (out as draft). SG24-7590 |
Posted by Christian Rivero on 11 June 2008 at 9:54 Dear Scott, I'm new to PowerVM and the Power architecture. I have a basic question, how many levels has the pipeline of the Power6 processor? And what is the relation between "Simultaneous multithreading" and pipeline? Regards |
Posted by Scott Vetter on 17 June 2008 at 14:26 Thanks for the question. The POWER6 processor is a topic outside the virtualization, but there is an SMT discussion in the P5 server whitepapers, and specific documents on the POWER6 processor. Here is a place to get started: http://www.research.ibm.com/journal/rd/516/le.html |
Posted by Robert Desjarlais on 30 October 2008 at 9:23 Please re-post the older version of the Advanced Power Virtualization Redbook. It had much useful information that has been edited out of the current book. The current book is also fine, but it does not address many of the configuration steps for VIO server as well as the old book did. |
Posted by Scott Vetter on 31 October 2008 at 9:29 Most of the missing content was moved to the Managing and Monitoring Redbook, except for the PLM. I see Safari still has this book available and other online retailers. I'm still looking at finding time to post the PLM content again. |
Posted by Oscar Humberto Torres Carranza on 30 January 2009 at 13:47 Martin Venables . For power 6. PLM no more. Only for POWER 5 |
Posted by Mr. Joergen Berg on 11 March 2009 at 6:58 I have forwarded my comments directly to Mr. Scott Vetter due to the 500 Char. limitation |
Posted by Venkatraman Rajendran on 20 September 2009 at 13:44 Luckily I have the Old Pdf document: SG24-7940 Which is a very good reference for VIO concepts and Various Virtualization Certifications. The new pdf seems to be very confusing and not clear. If somebody need the 1st pdf, please contact me. |
