How does the MIDAW Facility Improve the Performance of FICON Channels Using DB2 and other workloads?

An IBM Redpaper publication

Abstract

The MIDAW facility was introduced in the IBM z9 processor to improve FICON performance, especially when accessing IBM DB2 databases. This facility is a new method of gathering data into and scattering data from discontinuous storage locations during an I/O operation. This IBM Redpaper is intended for industry professionals who are interested in understanding IBM z/Architecture, and for people who want to understand the types of workloads that will experience improved performance.
